Regional Bound!!!
WHAT AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE!! (This is going to a long post, so bare with me.) Our band students were very fortune enough to be able to participate in the Music in the Parks Festival. This is a national competition that is open to all school instrument and vocal groups from across the country! More on that later. On the first day of our our trip, we travelled to Atlanta and stopped by a place called "Buc-ee's" for lunch. A lot of kids (and parents) had never been here before. They were completely mesmerized by the place. Several people bought tons of food, souvenirs, and clothing. We probably could've had the whole trip right there, but we pushed on to Atlanta, checked into our hotel, and then went to dinner at Hard Rock Cafe. Actually, we first went to the WRONG Hard Rock Cafe, but that's another story. After dinner, we went to an AWESOME performance by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, which is rated one of the Top 10 orchestras in the world. Side note--before the concert began, our school was recognized as a special guest of the orchestra. I had no idea they were going to do that, so that was a wonderful treat! The second day was spent at the Georgia Aquarium where everyone got to see whale sharks (the largest fish in the world), as well as dolphins, sea lions, beluga whales, and even a tiger shark! After that, we walked to the World Coca-Cola museum where we learned all about the history of Coca-Cola and also got to see THOUSANDS of Coca-Cola memorabilia throughout the years. At the end, everyone got to taste test all the different flavors of Coca-Cola products from around the world. Next, we travelled to the Atlanta Braves Baseball stadium. Unfortunately, we didn't get to stop and go in, but we did loop around and take pictures. Afterwards, we went to dinner at Olive Garden, back to the hotel to change for our performance, and then went to Douglas County High School to perform in competition. Our band was INCREDIBLE! They did an amazing job! The next day was spent at Six Flags over Georgia. Everyone had a lot of fun and rode crazy roller coasters such as The Batman, Twister Cyclone, The Goliath, and Superman Ultimate Flight. While at Six Flags, the announced the awards for the competition, and ... (drum roll) ... out of the five bands that competed, our band got SECOND PLACE!! That definitely deserves a "YAY BAND!" The last day we travelled home to Tuckerman, but of course not without stopping at Buc-ee's one more time! :-) This trip was unforgettable and our kids made some wonderful memories and got to experience new things that they otherwise may not have had a chance to do. I'd like to thank all the JCSD Administration for allowing us to go on this trip, as well as the parent chaperones who helped keep a watchful eye on everyone! Also to Ms. Stacy Bright for tagging along and keeping the kids healthy. She's also a great roller coaster ridin' buddy! And of course, to Carlos Lozano and Jack Shelby for driving and navigating to all the different locations we had to go to! Thanks for getting us there and back safely.

This child was frying some eggs.
This girl was showing the boys how to crack an egg.

There is so much to say about the success of our members at this year’s FFA State Convention! (This will be a lengthy post but stay with it until the end, it’s worth it!) Our retiring Chapter President, Noah Young, will not be retiring the blue corduroy jacket just yet! He was elected by his peers across the state and will be serving as Arkansas FFA State Secretary!!! We can’t wait to see how you grow and mature during your year of serving in office! We are so proud of you!!! Greenhand member, Ryan Keller, competed in the FFA knowledge contest! In this contest you must have a vast knowledge of FFA history, rules of the organization, and parliamentary procedure knowledge. He qualified for State finals by taking a written exam and placing in the top 12 scores across the state. Because he qualified, he then competed in the Oral Exam/interview portion. Ryan performed to the highest of standards during this and ended up being FFA Knowledge State Champion!!! 🥇 congrats Ryan! We’re all proud! The Conduct of a Chapter Meeting Team competed in the state finals as one of the Top 9 teams of the state. The team did a tremendous presentation and finished the contest 3rd, and brought home a plaque for the Ag Room Wall! Team members are Cole Gates, Zeke Church, Jackson Webb, Katie Bennett, Austin Morgan, Ryan Keller, and Dawson Worthington (not pictured because he had to leave early for baseball district tournament)! Congratulations to this wonderful team! The parliamentary procedure team also competed in the State Finals and fell just short of receiving a top 3 plaque. They worked hard and had a good round. We are proud of all of your hard work and your finish! Teams member are Addy Williams, Caeley Gist, Drew Nichols, Kade Keton, Ryder Brunner, and Noah Bartsch! Last but not least, our chapter had 5 kids receive their State FFA degrees today! To receive this degree they must work over 300 hours (outside of the classroom) in a Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE), get 25 hours of community service, and a host of other qualifications. For achieving this feat they received the Gold Chain and Emblem to drape from their jacket. These recipients are: Wyatt Smith, Caeley Gist, Addy Williams, Drew Nichols, and Katie Clark (not pictured because she was playing in the district softball tournament)! We are so proud of these individuals for achieving that long term goal! This was such a great trip! Thank you to the community for always supporting and encouraging these kids to achieve their best! It’s definitely paying off!
