This week in pre-K we have started talking about stories with similar plots that are interesting to children. When the story's core is the same, it is easier for children to focus on the differences in the characters and settings. This week we are comparing and contrasting stories that have plots that are alike and different. We have used cloud dough and was able to relate it to the same color (white) as in our stories: Mary had a Little Lamb and Maria's little Llama. We have drawn in sand and talked about why it would or wouldn't be a good material to build a home. We have tested different materials to see which were easier to blow and which were harder. With our read alouds we are beginning to talk about story plots, characters and settings. In literacy we are continuing rhyming words and pointing out that the beginning of a sentence starts with a capital letter as well as the first letter of someone's name. In math we have been talking about 3-D shapes and comparing the differences between those and 2-D. In our STEAM we are doing 2 and 3 step directions with Frog-E.
