This week in pre-K we have been talking about nutritious foods and how they are an important part of developing healthy habits. When children learn about healthy eating habits at a young age they are more likely to adopt those habits later in life. This week we are learning about a balanced diet that includes a variety of foods and their proper portions. We have been getting to taste some yummy treats. In one of our practice centers we have been sorting corn and sunflower seeds with tweezers. We are discovering which is easier to pick up while working those fine motor skills. For sensory practice we have been pretending to make rolls and cornbread with our playdough and then discuss the food group in which they would belong. Our read aloud today included us making a fruit caterpillar! In our math small group we are sorting by attributes. In science we also had aroma canisters and tried to match the scents to go along with our read aloud of "Farley Follows His Nose."
